The week was boring and I had two quizzes to deal with. Just when I thought another week is going to past greyly, the most heart-stirring entity befall me. I am going to France!! YES!! I AM GOING TO FRANCE!!!
It had been almost 2 months after two other good friends and I applied for the program. It was pj who broke the news to me through the phone. I felt excited yet aloof. It seemed like a dream coming true. I rushed home, kicked my bro off the comp to see the email for myself. Yes yes!!! It’s me!!!
The email goes like this:
Bonjour Adarina,
Congratulations! You have been selected to participate in Global Summer Studies at Universite de Technologie de Compeigne & Troyes, France from 19 May - 18 June 2006.
The rest of the mail is not important, all about money and stuff; it just states that I will have to make a payment by next Tuesday to confirm the acceptance of this offer.
Although it will really be exciting and all, I am a little worried as well. What is it like to study in a foreign land? What kind of food? How will the toilets be like? The people? Accommodation? Security?
My family and friends…. I will have to leave them behind for a month.
It is definitely going to be fun, and I can assure that, but when little details are scrutinized, it is kinda scary.
I will have to wash my own clothes, switch off the lights at night, and speak French. Will there be ghost?? Will there be racial discrimination?? I will have to take intensive French lessons and a management module as elective over there. How much would I learn and benefit?
A plentiful of questions.
Besides studying, I will get the chance to stay in Paris for a night!!! *speechless* I am dreaming of standing under the Eiffel Tower and glazing up to the highest point….gasp!!!
I didn’t apply this program for fun, but I really wanted to experience and breathe the air of a foreign land. Certain opportunities just struck once. Now that I am given the chance, there’s no way I’m going to give it up.

However, it's a opportunity not to be missed... Go ahead and explore and enjoy!!! You only live once...
