For the entire weekend, I was tearing my hair and trying to remember the tons of theory for the test earlier today. But yesterday, my attention was interrupted by a new year dinner. I won’t want to miss good food since my parents recommended that restaurant, and I won’t have to pay for it!! Why not??
The restaurant was fully occupied by the time we arrived, but luckily we were smart enough to make a reservation one month ago. However, the service and standard of the food had fallen rock bottom from the time we last visited them.
The salmon was not fresh because it was frozen when the waiter served it. When we mixed the food, all the salmon slices were hard and stuck together.
Braised golden coin shark's fin with dried scallop and crab meat
The braised shark’s fin soup was so watery!! It was never like that when we ate it the other time. I can hardly find the fins, and I guess the sharks had gone on strike. Ok, some marine-creature lovers might protest and say we should forbid the sale of shark’s fin, but look, there is hardly any fin, unlike those sold at Rama Thai, where the entire fin is erracted and swimming around your bowl!!
Sauteed fresh scallop with XO sauce and broccoli but where's the XO sauce??
This should be sautéed fresh scallop with XO sauce and broccoli, but where is the XO sauce?? We returned and rejected the dish and guess what did the chef did?? He poured the vegetable back into the wok and mixed with some XO sauce!! Look how messy the dish had become…
Abalone, black mushroom and black sea moss with green vegetable
This is the auspicious dish black moss aka fa choi. But there is real human hair within the fa choi!!! I know human hair and fa choi looks the same, but putting someone’s hair into my mouth turns me off. By the time other dishes were served, I had already lost my appetite.
Steamed live grouper in HK style
The fish was supposed to appear much earlier on, but it became the last main dish on the table, even after the stewed fried bee hoon!! I was expecting the fish to be soft and smooth, like what my mum cooked, but it was hard and rubbery and obviously overcooked!! What the Fish!!! By that time, we were so pissed off that we requested for the manager and asked her to savor on the fish that her chef had prepared. Her face crumpled up, and she understood how horrible the fish taste!!
And the worst part is yet to come…..
I fell down!!! I was on my way to the washroom and I slip and fall!!! @#$%^&*
What a way to end the dinner!!
Ok, at least there were 2 more presentable dishes
The prawn that looks good, but I don't eat, and the baby piglet with hardly any meat!!
