Election Day!! Vote for whom??

I don’t like to write on political stuff because the chance of writing wrong things, getting involve in lawsuits and ending up bankrupt is quite high. To me, that is not very appealing. But since today is such a special day, I decided to write something about it.

Today is the day that will determines who take the lead for the next five years.

I had been chasing the news and yesterday, some leaders mentioned that blogs do have adverse effect the people’s mentality. They said that blogs are powerful tools and platforms which are difficult to control because people can write whatever they like. Moreover, it is a www thing, whereby the whole world can sees it.

Well yes, I believe that’s true to a certain extent, but – not everyone is interested in writing political stuff. Personally, I don’t like to write on rigid and dry topics like politics. In college, politics is the first topic that I slash off from my GP exam paper, I have attempt those question before, but they are just not my cup of tea. I don’t mean that I am unconcern about the future of my country; it is just that I prefer to write on more sensational topics, emotional ones. Don’t get me wrong, I am not talking about sex or what, but rather, my thoughts.

In fact, I am pretty interested in this time’s round election. The first time PAP is challenged like never before. Not just that, another reason why I am so concern is because I will be graduating during their period, (I sounded like the government is having their menstruation!! hahaha!!!) I mean period of leadership. I cannot help, but I have to be informed. I might be at their mercy…

I hate politics being tied up with conditions. For instance, if you don’t vote for me, your housing area will turn into a slum. The trees will grow into your house and your lift will not stop at every storey. That is so kiddish!!! Okok, people don’t want their housing area to turn into a slum, the trees to grow into their house and they want the lift to stop at every storey, so they vote for them. Does it work that way?? Or is that one of their strategies??
I am not implying that the party is inefficient or incompetent, they had done a great job in leading our country this far, and I guess most of us are proud to have a nearly corruption free government.
But my point is how do we cast our votes?? What are the criteria that we need to take into account?? Are we voting for our own benefits or for the future of our nation??

So what do I mean by the future of our nation?? I mean policies. I mean directions. I mean decision making. Not just bread and butter issues. No doubt, I feel that having members from the opposition parties might be good, because it eliminates certain shortcomings and act as devil’s advocates in the parliament. Which is good!!! It is like having female members, they voice out a different opinion and perspective. It helps to make the final decision complete. Isn’t that the whole objective of a democratic leadership style??

Whatever it is, I will still didn’t get to vote this time. One reason is that I am still underage; the other reason is that no opposition parties are interested in my area. *sob*

Who will take the lead?? The results will be out soon!!
