It had been a relaxing week at work as boss was away for a business trip. Thus, I was creating havoc in the office these days, signing in late and msning like never before.
I met up with ash on Tuesday for dinner, and we chat for hours, from the eatery downstairs to the food court upstairs. In the end, we chat too much that we couldn’t bear to part with one another. Believe me, girls can talk non-stop. So, I reach home at close to 11.
As I float into the office on Wednesday, I took an afternoon nap when a friend buzzed me on msn, asking if I could help his friend with a photo shoot. “Why me” was the first thing that struck my exhausted mind. I was quite reluctant in the beginning because I felt uncomfortable with the idea, and I don’t have previous experiences. Yes, I am a poser, but an impromptu poser, with spastic smile. =)
But the main reason was that, I was afraid to be featured because I love to draw on the faces of people or celebrities that were featured on brochures, newspapers and magazines. I would add some moustaches on the girls, sharpen their eyebrows, colour their lips or add some hair to their face. In fact, I draw on their faces whenever their faces lie within my proximity when I am free. Thus, the idea of other people with the same habit, drawing on me just turns me off!!
But I am such a kind angel and will seldom reject approaches. So, I went ahead with it. I was quite shocked when the photo shooting will take place on the next day. Not that I need any preparations, but I am just not mentally prepared.
Yesterday, I got to the studio after dinner, with some trouble of course. Firstly, it was getting there and then it was the security. I was stuck with the security guard for a good 20 minutes because I don’t know the photographer’s extension… so there I was, standing outside the guard house, feeding some random insects and mosquitoes. But the guard was quite a nice chap; he kept talking and entertaining me as he looked for the photographer.
It was long after I was finally given the visitor pass to enter the building. The place was quiet, with really spacious reception area and I was lead through layers of doors before arriving at the studio.
A comfortable red couch welcomes me into the studio, followed by a blue backdrop from the ceiling that stretched 3 meters across the room. Then, there were 2 ultra big lights and 2 mannequins standing naked at the side of the studio, one with a broken arm. Hahaha!!! Lifeless, yet scary.
I walked into the changing room, and it was pretty big. A table faces the mirror on the wall, and separating the makeup section and the changing section was a maroon curtain. There was also a black leather armchair in the middle of the room, but I refused to take a sit because there was some whitish dandruff-look-alike particles and hair cream all over the chair. Yucks!!! Gross!!! I bet millions of bacteria were teeming in the room, as there was a slight stench.
Behind the curtain was the changing area, but there isn’t even a single hook!! Just a mirror placed on the floor, leaning against the wall. I quickly got changed and left the smelly room…
As I stood outside the changing room morbid, another guy was being interviewed. This was the first time I had seen a journalist in action and I really do enjoyed watching from the side. After he was done, it was my turn. I answered her questions brainlessly and now, I couldn’t really recall what I said. Just vaguely, I answer them in politically correct answers.
After which was the photo shooting session. Very challenging!! I posed as the photographer directed my actions, and her language was simply weird… For instance, she said, lift your hand higher by one inch, or tilt your body 10 degree. I was completely lost!!!
Huh?? One inch?? Got ruler anot??
