Is anything wrong?

When you first met up with a stranger, do you know where the limit is? I mean for you, is it alright to exchange numbers? Well, I am unsure of whether I did anything that is incorrect-in-your-context this afternoon. Ash even cast a wrathful glace at me when I told her about it. =(

The trip to school alone was boring at first; until I met this man on the bus. He was on his way to one of the libraries to shelf some of his books. He asked me for directions because I was the ONLY person (besides the bus driver) on the bus. So, I guess he could only ask me right??

He was quite direct with his speech and it seemed that he has nothing to hide. The conversation between us was a light hearted one. Happy and excited about what had happened, I was skipping around and telling ash about the person I just met.
Part of our conversation goes like this:

Me: Just now I met this interesting person on the bus leh!!! *smiley face*

Ash: Man or woman?!?!

Me: Man.

Ash: Ada!!!!!! Tsk… how could you!!!! How old??

Me: ohhh… I think late 20 early 30s loh. He is a freelance journalist and a web page designer leh!!! and he was a graduate from our uni too. He even showed me the few books that he wrote. So interesting hor?

Ash: Wait!! Did u two exchange number?

Me: Ya. Networking mah, nothing wrong right?

Ash: Uncle you oso want!!!! Tsk… This is not networking loh, this is called “socializing”.

Me: *giggles* No la, is “networking”.

Ash: Tsk…I think you should major in “sociology” instead.

Me: -_- Yeah right…


The way ash reacted was as though I did something super crazy cum horrible cum bold cum gravely WRONG!!!! So my question is – did I cross the limit?? Am I corrupting myself? Can I use the excuse that I was just gullible and too naive? No no, I didn’t expect ash to react that way, but I see no harm in getting to know a new friend.

How would she react if it was a woman??

The reason why I was willing to exchange number was because he was there for a purpose, and talked to me with a valid reason. Unlike someone who just sits around and leers at random passersby, he looked alright and I am quite sure he is not those who would suck up to anyone. Moreover, he was rather interested in my major and see chances that we might have some collaboration in the future. That is exactly why (I think) he asked for my number.

I don’t know whether it is just me, or is ash overreacting. I don’t give my number to any tom, dick or harry. She said that she might just freak out if such thing ever happens to her. I smile.
